Robinson Loses Job Over Abuse Allegations

School board officials voted to fire Robinson on Wednesday, September 12, 2018. She had served as a special education teacher at Danville High School since 2013, before being reassigned in the spring of 2017 to a special education class at North Ridge Middle School. School district administrators say they learned of the allegations against Robinson on August 10, 2018. The police were alerted the same day, WCIA reports.

Co-Worker Reported Suspicions In 2014

Blair Neal spoke with reporters at WCIA. She worked at Danville High School in 2014, and says she witnessed Robinson interacting inappropriately with male students at the time. Blair says she informed the school's principal about her concerns, but due to a lack of physical evidence, administrators "didn't really want to hear it," she says.

Neal worked as Robinson's teaching assistant in 2014. The two soon became friends, so close that Robinson was a bride's maid in Neal's wedding. Soon after the wedding, however, it became clear that something was odd in Robinson's classroom. "I noticed things aren't going how they should be in her classroom," Neal says. "Boys were coming in regularly, pretty much daily, they would sit on her lap. She would text them. She would talk to them on Snapchat."

Neal says she isn't surprised that Blair has been accused of having an inappropriate relationship with a student. "I was shocked but, at the same time, I knew it was going to happen eventually," the teacher said.

Danville School District Faces Another Child Abuse Scandal

Robinson is now free on a $100,000 bond. According to the terms of her release, she is not allowed to have any contact with the alleged victim. Her jury trial date has been scheduled for November 13, 2018.

Robinson's case is the second sexual abuse scandal to hit the Danville school district this year. In July, David J. Woodrow, a 41-year-old former volunteer with the North Ridge Middle School music program, was formally charged with six counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse. He is accused of abusing a 15-year-old boy on multiple occasions between 2011 and 2012.
