Camden Track Coach, Teacher's Aide Convicted Of Sexual Misconduct

Track coach and teacher's aide Robert Savage was arrested in August 2015, but the incident for which he was taken into custody occurred in 2002. He was indicted on charges of aggravated sexual assault and held on $300,000 bail. The school district fired him soon after his arrest. Reports suggest he worked in construction after being charged, NJ.com reports.

Ultimately, Savage pleaded guilty to a single charge of invasion of privacy by recording a sex act without consent in May 2017. The former coach admitted to having taken pictures of his victim as she performed a sex act without her consent. He was sentenced to one year in prison and three years of probation for his crimes.

The most serious charges against Savage were dropped in the plea deal. Savage continually denied having sexual contact with the alleged victim while she was a minor, but admitted to having a romantic relationship with her after she turned 18. Per the terms of the plea deal, Savage was forbidden from seeking further employment in the education field.
