Daniel Glenn was arrested in February 2015 and charged for sexual misconduct. According to Modesto police, Glenn and a former female student had been sending inappropriate digital images to one another. Authorities served a search warrant on Glenn's home and discovered child pornography on his computer, according to the Modesto Bee.
Reports suggest that the female student, then younger than 16 years old, had been a student of Glenn's at Wilson Elementary School, where he taught and worked on annual track and field events before moving to Mark Twain Junior High School for the 2014-2015 school year. In a preliminary hearing, testimony established that the young student had befriended Glenn on Facebook and sent him inappropriate images at the end of the 2013-2014 school year and over the summer.
The criminal charge against Glenn, possession of child pornography, was ultimately dismissed in January 2018 after prosecutors determined there was insufficient evidence to convict. At the time, his defense attorney, Kirk McAllister, said, "he is clearly innocent of these charges and for him the nightmare is finally over."
But Glenn had already lost his job at Mark Twain Junior High School. Modesto City Schools has always maintained that there were inappropriate communications between Glenn and his young student. The school district initiated termination proceedings against Glenn and he resigned in 2015. "We support our justice system and the decision made," the school district said in a statement. "We acted appropriately to protect students. Our investigation revealed inappropriate communications that go far beyond professional duties."
The allegations against Daniel Glenn are serious and damning. We believe that survivors of his alleged abuse deserve justice.
