Nationwide Allegations Of Sexual Assault at Hand & Stone

More than a dozen women across the country have accused Hand and Stone Massage and Facial Spa of failing to address sexual battery complaints. These allegations of sexualized massaging includes:

  • Inappropriate touching during full body massages
  • Sexual contact without consent
  • Simple assault escalating to sexual abuse

Sexual assault lawsuits and police reports indicate that victims were allegedly assaulted by Hand and Stone employees, many of whom should not have been working at the franchise due to inadequate background checks. This raises serious questions about the company's hiring practices and potential negligence in protecting clients from sex offenders.

If you've experienced any form of sexual misconduct during a Florida massage at Hand and Stone Spa, it's crucial to report the incident and seek legal counsel. Our team of sexual abuse lawyers in Florida are committed to supporting sexual assault survivors and holding responsible parties accountable.

Sexual Assault Scandal Rocks Massage Spa Franchises

American businesses, particularly massage spa franchises, have a stringent legal obligation to safeguard their clients from sexual predators. This responsibility is especially crucial in the massage industry, where spa customers place their trust in massage therapists during vulnerable moments of relaxation.

Hand and Stone: A Pattern of Alleged Violations

Multiple civil lawsuits have emerged, accusing Hand and Stone of repeatedly breaching this duty of care. These legal actions paint a disturbing picture of systemic failures in the company's sexual assault policies and practices.

Key Allegations:

  • Inadequate screening of stone massage therapists
  • Failure to properly verify massage therapist licenses
  • Insufficient response to sexual assault complaints
  • Repeated incidents involving the same massage therapist

Industry-Wide Concerns

This scandal has raised questions about safety practices across various massage salons, including:

  • Massage Luxe
  • Other prominent spa chains

Diverse Perpetrator Profiles:

Reports indicate a range of alleged offenders, from a 53-year-old massage therapist to multiple massage therapists within a single franchise location.

Florida Focus

The situation has drawn particular attention to Florida massage license regulations and enforcement. Plaintiffs argue that stricter oversight could have prevented many of these alleged incidents.

These lawsuits underscore the critical importance of robust sexual assault prevention measures in the massage industry. They serve as a stark reminder of the potential consequences when businesses fail to prioritize client safety.

Sexual Assault Allegations, Convictions Against Hand & Stone Employees

Before moving to Massage Envy, Cesar Guerrero was an employee of the Hand and Stone franchise location in Clermont. 26-years-old, Guerrero was convicted in March 2018 for sexually assaulting one of his clients. However, according to a recent civil lawsuit, Guerrero's pattern of criminal behavior began far earlier, perhaps before he was even working at Hand and Stone. In her lawsuit, a woman says that, during a 2015 massage at Hand and Stone's Clermont franchise, she was sexually assaulted by a man.

Carlos Amador pleaded guilty to one count of battery after being accused of inappropriate sexual touching while he worked at the Hand and Stone in Naples. He was forced to surrender his massage license. In the same month, two other massage therapists who worked at Hand and Stone locations in Florida were unilaterally stripped of their massage licenses due to sexual offenses.

Carlos Ysrael Lamos, who was accused of nonconsensually disrobing a female client, making inappropriate comments about her body, and spreading her buttocks, worked at the same Naples location as Carlos Amador. David Nazario was accused of fondling a client's breasts and touching her vagina during a massage session in violation of Florida law.
