Sexual abuse is unacceptable in any form. Our experienced Illinois attorneys are here to help. Were you or a loved one sexually abused by Danny O. Hill during his time as a minister in the Southern Baptist church? Were you violated by someone you trusted? We believe that you deserve justice. While Danny Hill has been punished for his crimes, the Southern Baptist church has not yet been held accountable for his misconduct
From recent media reports, it appears that sexual abuse is rampant within Southern Baptist congregations. Over the last two decades, an astounding 700 victims have come forward to accuse Southern Baptist ministers and volunteers of sexual misconduct. But instead of tackling this problem head-on, the Southern Baptist Convention has thus far chosen to ignore it. Worse yet, many survivors say Southern Baptist churches have concealed sexual abuse cases from the secular authorities and the public.
Needless to say, this state of affairs is unacceptable. In a healthy church, sexual abuse survivors aren’t silenced or told to shut up. They are supported and listened to. In a healthy church, dangerous sexual predators aren’t protected. They are exposed and punished. Yet to this day, the Southern Baptist Convention has not published a set policy on responding to sexual abuse allegations for local churches to follow.
