Hi - I'm Guy. I am an attorney that practices in Pennsylvania. I am a former sex crimes prosecutor and my day-to-day cases are almost exclusively helping survivors of sexual abuse get justice. My team and I are ready to help.
A shocking case of child sexual abuse has come to light in Delaware County, Pennsylvania, involving a retired teacher and Boy Scout troop leader. Keith Steininger, 68, who worked at Girard College for 41 years, has been arrested and charged with sexually abusing a former student in Pennsylvania over a two-year period.
The abuse allegedly occurred between 2018 and 2022 when the victim was between 11 and 13 years old. Steininger, who retired from Girard College in July 2022, is accused of inappropriately touching the child's "private parts" while acting as his teacher and Boy Scout troop leader.
The case came to light when the victim's foster parent reported the abuse to Upland Borough Police on January 25, 2024. The child disclosed the incidents to their foster parent, leading to an investigation.
Steininger faces multiple charges, including:
He is currently being held on $250,000 bail, with a preliminary hearing scheduled for May 2, 2024.
Both Girard College and the Boy Scouts of America have taken action in response to these allegations:
Delaware County District Attorney Jack Stollsteimer has expressed concern that there may be more victims. Authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward and contact the Upland Police Department.
Cases like this highlight the importance of holding perpetrators accountable and supporting victims of child sexual abuse. If you or someone you know has been affected by sexual abuse, it's crucial to seek both legal and emotional support.
