A man from Port Richey, Florida has been charged for sexually assaulting a patient at Baycare Behavioral Health Association. Deputies for the Pasco County Sheriff’s Department say Jeremy Peterson, 30, attempted to rape a woman at the mental health care facility.
According to police authorities, the victim told them that Peterson entered her room at Baycare and began to kiss her without her consent. The woman said that Peterson then pulled her pants down and attempted to remove her shirt.
The victim says she was screaming at Peterson to stop and leave her alone. Nurses entered the room and saw Peterson leaving the room. The victim, they say, was pulling up her pants and pulling down her shirt. Staff members at the facility also say the woman had red marks on her neck.
When questioned, Peterson admits to having been in the patient’s room, but claims that it was she who tried to kiss him. Peterson says he kissed her back, but then told her that he had to leave the room “before he got in trouble,” WTSP reports.
Peterson was arrested soon after. He has been charged with attempted sexual battery-rape. He is being held in the Land O’Lakes Jail.
