Joey Vento, the owner, and founder built his family business from the ground up and after passing in 2011, his son Geno (yes, named after the restaurant) has since carried on his father’s legacy. Starting their business from home in the 1930s, Jim and his wife Millie sold sandwiches in West Philadelphia. After several years, they opened their first located in 1939 called “Jim’s Steaks.” As their customer base flourished, so did a few more locations.
Since then, their Art Deco style and high-quality ingredient are what bring customers back for more. Specializing in cheesesteaks, Jim’s has other items on their traditional menu to choose from, but nothing will beat their popularly delicious specialty. Named one of 10 Philadelphia cheesesteak shops, they are worth a visit.
