Thankfully, Danny Lee Harris has been held accountable for his alleged misconduct by the criminal justice system. In 2018, Harris pleaded no contest (accepting punishment but not admitting guilt) to a charge of misdemeanor child endangerment. He was sentenced to five years of probation in exchange for the plea deal. In court documents, Harris was accused of exchanging inappropriate sexual messages with a 17-year-old Gabrielino High student.

In lieu of further punishment, Harris was ordered to provide the court with a list of all his minor clients. He has been restricted from contact with any minors without another adult present and cannot maintain electronic communications with minors unless another adult, guardian or parent is copied on the communication.

Harris was also ordered to attend 52 classes on sexual compulsions, must serve 45 days of community service and has been ordered to stay away from the victim for ten years. In exchange for Harris' no contest plea, two felony counts of contact with a minor for sexual offense and two misdemeanor charges of child annoying were dismissed by the court. If convicted of these additional charges, Harris would have served 7 years in prison.

Before his dismissal from the school on May 17, 2017, Harris worked asa a walk-on assistant track and field coach at Gabrielino High School. At the time of his arrest, he was not an employee of the school district, according to John Pappalardo, the superintendent of San Gabriel Unified School District. Harris made his name as a track and field star in the 80s. He won the silver medal in the 400-meter hurdles during the 1984 Summer Olympics.
