Darryl Bailey, a 54-year-old former counselor at Youth Emergency Services Shelter, is accused of groping and kissing a 19-year-old woman in his car during a drive from Philadelphia to Bensalem in June 2017. Prosecutors say Bailey stalked the teen, then tried to get her to stay with him at Neshaminy Motor Inn, where he rented a room and purchased her two Long Island iced teas at a TGI Friday’s. The young woman refused Bailey’s alleged advances and caught evidence of the youth counselor’s conduct on her cell phone.
The young woman had been placed with Youth Emergency Services Shelter, Bailey’s former employer, only two days before the misconduct is alleged to have taken place. Darryl Bailey worked as a shift supervisor at the shelter, which offers crisis care and emergency short-term housing and therapy services from its offices at 1526 Fairmont Avenue in Philadelphia.
Bailey has now pleaded guilty to two misdemeanor charges, stalking and furnishing alcohol to a minor. He has been sentenced to three years probation by Senior Judge Clyde Waite. Previous to his current plea agreement, Bailey had admitted to institutional sexual assault, a felony charge, but withdrew the admission in July.
In light of these troubling allegations, our dedicated Pennsylvania sexual abuse attorneys have launched a full investigation into Youth Emergency Services and its handling of sexual abuse complaints. We believe there may be other victims who have yet to step forward.
