About Murrysville

The Municipality of Murrysville, or simply Murrysville, is a home rule status community in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania. It is bordered by:

  • Upper Burrell Township on the north
  • Washington Township on the north and east
  • Delmont on the southeast
  • Salem Township on the south and southeast
  • Penn Township on the south
  • Monroeville on the southwest
  • Plum on the west

The area is governed by a mayor who is elected every two years. The neighborhoods in the municipality include Dunningtown, Franklin Estates, Heather Highlands, Murrysville Heights, Newlongsburg, Ringertown, Sardis, Settlers Ridge and White Valley. As of the 2010 census, it has a population of 20,079 people and a total area of 36.9 square miles.

Recreation

The Municipality of Murrysville is home to a number of recreational spaces for residents and visitors to enjoy. Situated throughout the city are 15 parks, nature reserves, sports fields and historic sites. Some of which include Pleasant Valley Park, Duff Park, Bear Hollow Park, Townsend Park, Murrysville Community Park, Kovalczik Park, Skena Kellman Nature Reserve, and McGinnis Nature Reserve. 

Murrysville Community Park & Wetlands

Murrysville Community Park is a more than 305-acre park on Wiesterstown Road in Murrysville. Open from dawn to dusk, it features four baseball and softball fields, three multipurpose fields, one large unfinished playing field, two pavilions, bocce and shuffleboard courts, two playgrounds, the 1.5-mile Valley Hiking Trail,  a two-mile paved walking trail, a bridle path, a seasonal splash pad, a scouting area, and a dog park. The park is also home to the Rotary Miracle Field Complex, which provides an ADA-accessible ballfield, fitness trail, all-sports court, playground and pavilion.

Also located within Murrysville Community Park is its wetlands. Full of wildlife, it is one of the most beautiful, peaceful and tranquil area of the park. It offers a walking trail with benches, live webcams, a pavilion with classrooms, observation blind and interpretive signage. Restrooms are also situated throughout the park. Murrysville Community Park is open from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily.

Village of Murrysville

Village of Murrysville is a shopping mall on William Penn Highway. As one of the shopping plazas in Murrysville, it offers several varieties of shops, eateries and services for residents in the area. Some of the tenants of Village of Murrysville are Sho 'n Save, Rive Nail + Skin Care Spa, Salon De Matteo, Mail & Copy Plus, 1ST SUMMIT BANK, 60 Minutes Missions Escape Room, DEAN'S Fitness Center, Ron's Pizza, Brushes and Beans Cafe, Infinity Comics & More, and Eat'n Park.
