Description of Prescott Valley

Prescott Valley is a town in Yavapai County, Arizona. Previously known as Lonesome Valley, it was settled in the 1880s by ranchers who raised beef to supply the new settlers and miners in the area. In the early 1890s, Thomas Gibson Barlow-Massicks settled in the area and constructed the historic castle that is still standing in Fain Park today. In the mid-1960s, Prescott Valley Inc., a real estate company from Phoenix, purchased land 10 miles east of Prescott in the Lonesome Valley. By 1978, the unincorporated area had become known as Prescott Valley and had more than 1,500 residents. That same year, it was incorporated as a town. From 1990 to 2000, Prescott Valley was the seventh fastest-growing place in the state. As of the 2019 census estimate, it has a population of approximately 46,515 people.

Fain Park

Fain Park is a 100-acre park in Prescott Valley. Although over 80 acres of it is still in its natural state, the park is the perfect place for passive recreational activities. Visiting can enjoy their time fishing, gather at the picnic shelters, or walking and hiking the paved track. Managed by the Town of Prescott Valley Parks & Recreation Department, it features a bridge, refurbished stamp mill, and the historic Thomas Gibson Barlow-Massicks Victorian House, "Castle." The park can be found on North 5th Street and is free to visitors. It is open every day from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Mountain Valley Park

Another recreational park in Prescott Valley, Mountain Valley Park is where residents go to enjoy active sporting activities. It offers amenities such as:
