Hi - I'm Guy. I am an attorney that practices in PA, and NY. I am a former sex crimes prosecutor and my day-to-day cases are almost exclusively helping survivors of sexual abuse get justice. My team and I are ready to help.
Sexual abuse allegations have been leveled against an unidentified male counselor at a Katz Jewish Community Center (JCC) camp in South Jersey, NBC 10 Philadelphia reports.
On Monday, August 14, 2018, representatives from the Jewish Federation of Southern New Jersey sent a letter to parents, notifying families of the accusations against a man who worked at the JCC in Cherry Hill. The man’s identity has not been released. No arrests have been made in the case, but law enforcement officials say they are investigating the claims now.

In their letter to parents, JCC officials said the problems started about two weeks ago, after a child was injured after interacting with the unidentified male counselor. The counselor was quickly transferred to the kitchen, assumedly out of contact with children, but an investigation from state authorities found that the child’s injuries had been accidental.
One week later, a parent accused the man of inappropriately touching a child. The counselor was immediately suspended, the JCC says. Soon thereafter, more sexual abuse allegations against the man surfaced.

The Jewish Federation of Southern New Jersey says in its letter that it has been working closely with state prosecutors to bring the case to a satisfying resolution, but some parents and JCC members have come out to criticize the organization.
One mother, Lindsay Feuer, whose 3-year-old daughter was watched by the unidentified man, says, “I’ve been a member for years. My son went to camp there. I’ve always had a very positive experience here. I’m not here to demonize the JCC but I don’t feel like this was handled well.”

We want to hear from you. Your story matters. We know this must be a scary and infuriating time for you, wondering what exactly happened to your child and how something like this could happen in the first place. We want to help you find the answers to your questions.
Contact us today to learn more about your legal options. When children are abused while in the care of a summer camp, the question naturally arises of whether the camp did enough to protect them from the abuser. Beyond the direct perpetrator, summer camps and religious organizations must be held to account for their actions in the wake of a serious sexual abuse allegation.
Some organizations are negligent, failing to uphold their legal obligation to protect. This is the goal of the civil court system, where organizations and individuals can be held liable for failing to uphold their duty to protect children from harm. Similar to public schools in New Jersey, many community centers can also be held accountable for allowing sexual abuse to occur under their watch.
