McCracken County High School Faces Sexual Abuse Scandal

McCracken County High School has been embroiled in a series of sexual abuse scandals since the beginning of 2019. At least three of the school’s employees are now under active investigation from the McCracken County Sheriff’s Office. Three faculty members at the school, including the athletics director, have been accused of maintaining inappropriate sexual contact with current and former students, including sending and transmitting nude photographs. As these continue to be active investigations, police authorities have been careful in releasing details about the accused abusers.

John Parks, the high school’s bass fishing coach, has been charged with first-degree sexual abuse. Arrest reports claim that Parks grabbed a male minor’s buttocks and inner thigh on multiple occasions for “sexual gratification.” He has also been charged for possession of child pornography in connection to a second minor. In addition to the charges against Parks, two high school employees are under investigation for engaging in inappropriate communications with students. These employees, including the school’s athletics director, are accused of exchanging explicit photographs with current and former students.

Meanwhile, a student at the high school has also been charged for sexual misconduct. 18-year-old Pricekumar Joshi is accused of inappropriate sexual contact and possessing illegal sexual images of an underage student. Whether Joshi remains in custody is unknown. Authorities do not believe that any of the current cases are connected, the Lexington Herald Leader reports.

High School Principal Charged For Failing To Report Abuse

In the wake of multiple sexual abuse arrests, McCracken County High School principal Michael Ceglinski was charged over allegations that he concealed the sexual abuse from authorities. Police believed Ceglinski was aware of two of the alleged incidents but failed to report his suspicions to law enforcement, which is required under Kentucky state law. One of the charges against Ceglinski has now been dropped, but he remains charged with failure to report child abuse.

Authorities say key school administrators were informed of sexual abuse allegations, but failed to report them to the police, in violation of state law.
