The Center offers education to the public on subjects about architecture, urban planning, and design. Through talks, publications, exhibitions, workshops, festivals, design competitions, and children’s programs, the museum can give back to the community.
The Center’s signature annual festival, DesignPhiladelphia, presents hundreds of local designers and architects work for 11 days in October. They hosts over 100 events citywide, including workshops, studio tours, book signing, design exhibitions, panel discussions, fashion shows, and create celebrations.
The Center is free to visit and is open to the public on select days. This independent educational non-profit organization brings together developers, designers, architects, building industry partners, and society as a whole to appreciate the artist abilities that each possesses.

Founded in 1977, The Fabric Workshop and Museum is located right next to the Center for Architecture and Design. As an internationally acclaimed contemporary art museum, it is devoted to the creation of innovative works of art.
Through the introduction of new methods, technologies, and installations, the artworks emerging from this collaborative phase have extended the possibilities of modern art practice over time.
In 1996, the addition of the word “museum” was integrated into the name of the institution to reflect the developing collection of contemporary art over the years.
Today, the workshop space provides students and artists with new material and media to explore while experimenting with screen printing on fabrics. The workshop also encourages international artists to reach out with their finished works of art, publications, websites, and programs.
Plan your next trip over to The Fabric Workshop and Museum to discover the latest pieces of art continuously displayed in exhibitions.
