Childhood sexual abuse leaves lasting scars. You may still be struggling to process the painful emotions that the abuse has caused. Fear, grief, shame, embarrassment – these are all natural reactions to a terrible trauma. You don’t have to go through this alone.
Darrell Yancey has been arrested and charged in the criminal justice system, but he has yet to be held accountable for his actions to the survivors of his abuse. Financial compensation may be available. Money may be available to help you cover the costs of necessary medical expenses, lost wages and pain and suffering.
We believe that several of the churches for which Yancey served as a pastor may have committed negligence and allowed the gospel singer to commit his abuse. In a civil lawsuit, these negligent churches can be held accountable to survivors for their misconduct.

A Dallas pastor has been arrested and charged on multiple counts of child sexual abuse. Darrell Maurice Yancey, 59, was taken into police custody on Thursday, December 20, 2018. Authorities charged Yancey with three counts of aggravated sexual assault of a child, four counts of sexual assault of a child and one charge of driving with an invalid license.
Yancey is a resident of Grand Prairie. No information has been released by police on the charges, but an affidavit obtained by WFAA-TV reveals that the abuse of which Yancey is accused occurred during the 1990s and 2000s. It is believed that Yancey is accused of having abused multiple victims over the years. He is being held in the Tarrant County Jail.
One of Yancey’s alleged victims was only 13 years old when the abuse occurred, authorities claim. Police say Yancey fathered three children with the young girl while he served as her pastor. She was living with Yancey at the time due to her own family’s financial troubles.
According to the affidavit, the victim placed a controlled call to Yancey early in 2018, confronting the pastor over the abuse and the “impact it had on her spiritually, mentally and emotionally.” She asked Yancey if he had any remorse, to which the pastor replied that he did not enjoy it, saying “a man does not enjoy it because you didn’t have a willing participant.”
Reports suggest that another victim was Yancey’s own daughter, who confirmed allegations in the affidavit when questioned by reporters at WFAA-TV.
Reporters in Arlington say Yancey served as a pastor and gospel singer throughout the Dallas-Forth Worth area. Videos of him singing at churches are readily available on YouTube. He refers to himself as the “Apostle” on Facebook.
