The doctor abuse law firm in Casas Adobes brings you this informative article on the community of Casas Adobes. See what the community has in store for its residents and tourists.

Brief History of Casas Adobes

Casas Adobes is a census-designated place in the northern metropolitan area of Tucson, Arizona. Its history dates back to before the 1920s, when cattle ranchers inhabited the area. In the 1940s, Silvio "Sam" Nanini and his family moved to the area in hopes of curing his wife Giaconda's bronchial asthma. He began developing three residential subdivisions in the mid-1950s that are now the heart of the Casas Adobes community and its namesake. The subdivisions are considered to be the first suburb in Tucson.

During the late-1990s and 2000s, residents of Casas Adobes have been voting for the incorporation of the area. However, each vote has been overturned or annulled. Due to its inability to incorporate, it is most likely that the CDP would be annexed by its neighboring areas of Oro Valley, Marana and Tucson. As of today, Casas Adobes has a total area of 22.6 square miles. In the 2010 census, its population was reported as 66,795 people. On January 8, 2011, 19 people were shot and six people were killed during a Congresswoman's meeting in a parking lot of the Safeway grocery store.

Casas Adobes Plaza

Casas Adobes Plaza is located at the corner of North Oracle Road and East Ina Road. Developed by Sam Nanini, the upscale shopping mall was opened in 1948. It features the following stores and restaurants:

Foothills Mall

Tohono Chul or Tohono Chul Park was created in 1985 as a botanical garden, nature preserve and cultural museum. Its name comes from the Tohono O'odham language and means desert corner. The 49-acre park focus on connecting people with the nature, culture and art of the Sonoran Desert region.

It is home to 38 species of birds, a visiting spot for 57 migrant species, a variety of mammals and reptiles, 150 species of shrubs and trees, 50 species of wildflowers, and 300 species of cacti and succulents. The park also features the largest private collection of native Night-blooming Cereus. During the summer, Tohono Chul would host "Bloom Night," where visitors could watch as the cereus flowers open. Outdoor exhibits of the park are the Ethnobotanical Garden, Riparian Habitat, Geology Wall, Saguaro Discovery Trail, Sin Agua Garden, Desert Living Courtyard, Sonoran Seasons Garden, and Desert palm Oasis.
