The work abuse law firm of Drexel Heights is proud to bring you this informative article on the CDP of Drexel Heights. Discover what it has to offer its residents and visitors.
Drexel Heights is a census-designated place (CDP) in the county of Pima, Arizona. Believed to have been named after financier Francis Anthony Drexel, it is said that Drexel had owned property in the Drexel Heights area and eastward in the late 1800s. However, no proof of this claim exists. On March 4, 2014, historian David Leighton stated in an article in the Arizona Daily Star newspaper that Drexel didn't own land in the area. Drexel Road in Drexel Heights was actually named after Saint Katharine Drexel – the daughter of Francis Drexel, who established many missions for Native Americans and Blacks throughout the U.S.
Drexel Heights can be found at the geographical coordinates of 32.138989 degrees north latitude and 111.043926 degrees west longitude. In 2010, the CDP had a population of 27,749 people and a total area of 19.7 square miles. It is bordered on the north by Tucson Mountain Park.
Tucson Mountain Park was founded in April 1929 and overseen by the Pima County Parks Commission. It is one of the largest natural resource areas that are owned and managed by a local government. Located just north of Drexel Heights on West Gates Pass Road, the park offers visitors breathtaking views of the natural landscape. It features:
Recreational activities you can enjoy at the park include archery hunting, archery range, mountain biking, shooting range, wildlife viewing, and hiking the trails. Its hours of operation are from dawn to dusk.
Robles Pass Trail Park is a park in the northern part of Drexel Heights. In 1999, the 1,038-acre Robles Ranch property was added to the Tucson Mountain Park. In 2010, its 16 miles trails were completed. The trails in the park are perfect for hikers, trail runners, mountain bicyclists, equestrians, and dog walkers. You can take in its stunning views at its highest point and check out the lush vegetations, rock features and the historic house made out of native rocks on the way up.
Manzanita Plaza is the main shopping mall of the CDP of Drexel Heights. Catering to residents and visitors of the area, it is situated on the northwest corner of the West Valencia Road and South Cardinal Avenue intersection. The stores, services and dining options the shopping center offers are Domino's Pizza, McDonald's, KFC, NORTHWEST MEDICAL, Coin Laundry, Desert Sports & Fitness - Southwest, Family Dollar, Safeway, Shannon Burke: Allstate Insurance, Famous Sam's Sports Grill #11, Watermill Express, and Chase Bank.
