Hobart is a city within Lake County, Indiana. Originally owned by the Potawatomi Native American tribe, English immigrant George Earle bought the land and platted it in 1849. Named after his brother Frederick Hobart Earle, the town was incorporated in 1889. In 1921, Hobart was incorporated as a city. The city has been historically residential, but recent annexation has added a retail corridor to it.

Lake George is a popular recreational space for residents of Hobart. Managed by the Hobart Parks and Recreation Department, the mill pond was formed when George Earle built a dam on the Deep River to power gristmills and sawmills. People love taking walks along the city's waterfront. During the warm months, musical entertainment can also be enjoyed at the nearby Revilli Bandshell and the clock tower in Lakefront Park. You can also go fishing and boating in the mill pond, as well as feed the ducks at Festival Park.
Hobart Prairie Grove is around 300 acres of forested ravines and part of the scenic Lake George. Its trails offer a great path for biking, running, leisure walking, hiking and more. Visitors can also take in the beauty of the area on the Oak Savannah rail trail that runs through the park.
Hobart Prairie Grove preserves a number of habitats, including prairie remnants, white oak flatlands, wetlands and a rare bur oak savanna. The park also features a unique soil that comprises 70 percent silt and clay with smaller portions of sand. Hobart Prairie Grove is home to 343 native plants and a large amount of wildlife. It has been added to the National Park System as part of the Indiana Duned National Park.
The North Ridge Center is a shopping mall in Hobart. Providing a retail space for residents and visitors to the city, it is located near the intersection of North Hobart Road and East 37th Avenue.
