Lake James Island Private Park is a nice little recreational space for the residents of the area. The lake is two miles in perimeter and offers a great trail to run or walk your dog. For a break from the hustle and bustle of the city, the island also provides a private and tranquil place to relax.
Situated to the left of the Acredale neighborhood is the private Christian university of Regent University. Established in 1977 by Pat Robertson, it was originally the Christian Broadcasting Network University. In 1990, its name was changed to Regent University. Today, the school has been regionally accredited by the Commission on Colleges from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. It has a student population of 8,630, of which 3,698 are undergraduates, 3,949 are postgraduates, and 983 are non-degree seeking.
