A 50-year-old teacher at Seymour High School in Indiana has been arrested on felony charges. A paternity test showed that he fathered a child with a former student. While the student was still enrolled at the high school, it has been found that the he had an inappropriate relationship with them.
The investigation first began in September 2020 after the student gave birth to the child. There were disruptions at the school leading to the investigation.
Weaver was first placed on administrative leave by the school administration officials while the police were conducting their investigation. While on leave, he resigned his positions as both teacher and wrestling coach at the high school.
Investigators conducted interviews and obtained search warrants to examine cell phone activity and DNA samples of all parties, including the former teacher, former student and baby.
After the paternity examination and based on the results, the Seymour Police charged Weaver on one count of child seduction, based on his position of authority as a teacher and relationship with a student under 18. Child seduction is a level 5 felony.
The investigation is ongoing.
