Named after the creek that forms part of the western border of Philadelphia, it is bounded by Market Street to the north, 52nd Street to the east, Baltimore Avenue to the south and Upper Darby to the west. Cobbs Creek Automobile Suburb Historic District

Cobbs Creek Automobile Suburb Historic District was created in 1998. It was established to protect the 1049 buildings within the district. These buildings are of the Bungalow/Craftsman, Colonial Revival and Tudor Revival architectural style. The historic district is bounded by Spruce Street, Cobbs Creek Parkway, Angora Street and 62nd Street.

Walnut Park Plaza Hotel

Walnut Park Plaza Hotel is an apartment hotel in Cobbs Creek. Designed by architects Steller & Deysher and Frederick McDonals Massiah, it was constructed in 1928 of the Classical Revival architectural style. The historic nine-story, red brick apartment building features 224 residential units. Its property also includes two outbuildings. On May 10, 2005, it was added to the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP).

Christy Park and Recreation Center

The Christy Park and Recreation Center is a neighborhood park on South 55th Street in Cobbs Creek. Managed by the Philadelphia Parks and Recreation Department, it provides residents and visitors with amenities like:

  • Swimming pool
  • Park benches
  • Drinking fountain
  • Overhead lights

The park is accessible by wheelchair. Pets are even allowed on the property if they are on a leash. The outdoor space for Christy Park is open from dawn to dusk daily. Its recreation center is open from 1 to 9:30 p.m. Mondays through Fridays. On Saturdays, it is open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The park is closed on Sundays.

Cobbs Creek Park

Cobbs Creek Park is a rebuild project site of the city of Philadelphia. Situated along Cobbs creek, the wooded park offers a bocce court, sports fields, a track, a pool, a playground, picnic tables, walking paths, and a 3/7-mile trail that connects park goers with several historical and education sites. The 851-acre park also houses the Laura Sims Skate House and the oldest golf course in Philadelphia. The park is open every day from 6 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.
