It is bounded by Lansdowne Avenue to the north, North 52nd Street to the east, West Girard Avenue to the south, and North 63rd Street to the west. William B. Hanna School, or Guion Bluford Elementary School, is a historic school building in the neighborhood of Carroll Park. Located on Media Street, it was constructed between 1908 and 1909 by Sax and Abbott. The three-story, reinforced concrete, brick-faced school building was designed by Henry deCoursey Richards and is of the Late Gothic Revival style. Later on, the school was renamed Guion Bluford Elementary School to honor its alum astronaut Guion Bluford. On December 4, 1986, the school building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP).
William Shoemaker Junior High School is a middle/high school in Carroll Park. Built in 1925, the four-story, 14 bay, reinforced concrete, yellow brick-faced historic building is of the Late Gothic Revival style. Today, it is a charter school run by Mastery Charter Schools and has been renamed the Mastery Charter School Shoemaker Campus. On December 4, 1986, it was listed on the NRHP.
Carroll Park is a neighborhood park that has been revitalized in recent years. Part of the Rebuild project, the five-acre park can be found on West Girard Avenue. It offers recreational amenities like a sprayground, playground, adult fitness center, picnic area and trail. Like the other squares in Philadelphia, Carroll Park also features a central fountain, park benches, and many tall trees. These trees provide shaded areas for residents to enjoy some time on the lawn, whether they're picnicking or just hanging out.
Another park that helps bring the neighborhood of Carroll Park together is Conestoga Park. Situated on Media Street, it provides residents and visitors with a basketball court, baseball and softball field, jogging space, playground, shaded areas, and park benches. The park is wheelchair accessible and stroller friendly. It is open to the public daily from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.
