Hi - I’m Jeff. I am a lawyer licensed to practice law in Indiana. Our attorneys fight every day for the rights of sexual abuse victims. My team and I are ready to help.
The article below is presented by the child abuse attorneys in Northeast. Our legal team is thrilled to take residents and visitors on this journey of learning about neighborhoods in South Bend, like that of Northeast.
Northeast is a neighborhood in South Bend, Indiana. Also referred to as Northeast South Bend, it is within proximity to the communities of Harters Heights, Northshore Triangle, Eddy Street Commons, Wooded Estates, Notre Dame and River Park. The St Joseph River bounds the neighborhood to the east. The main roads serving the area are East Colfax Avenue (U.S. Route 20 Business), East Lasalle Avenue, and North Eddy Street (Indiana State Road 23). Houses for sale in Northeast have a real estate price ranging from $9,900 to $1.26 million. Rent prices are typically $1,100 or more.
Saint Joseph High School is a Roman Catholic college preparatory school. Prior to 2012, it was located adjacent to the campuses of St. Mary's College, Holy Cross College, and the University of Notre Dame. Today, it is part of the Diocese of Fort Wayne–South Bend and can be found on North Notre Dame Avenue in the Northeast neighborhood.
Saint Joseph High School was the first consolidated, co-institutional Catholic high school in the area of South Bend. Opened for classes on September 20, 1953, it is accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools and the Indiana Department of Education. Also part of the National Catholic Education Association, it is one of the Top 50 Catholic High Schools of the Catholic High School Honor Roll. The high school offers 16 Advanced Placement courses, Honors courses, college preparatory courses, a Learning Strategies program, and in-house peer tutoring.
Seitz Park is a riverfront park in the neighborhood of Northeast. Currently, it is temporarily closed to the public while construction is being done to add in a $27.1 million, 2.5-megawatt hydroelectric facility that will annually provide the University of Notre Dame with 7% of its electrical power and offset 9,700 tons of carbon dioxide. As construction for the facility is being done, the park itself is also being renovated. The new Seitz Park will include a new performance area, promenade, public building and entrance. There will also be improvements to the East Race bridge. The firefighter memorial and river lights forest in the park are stored until the park is completed. Seitz Park should be open to the public again this fall.
The River Lights Forest of Seitz Park is a staple for the South Bend downtown landscape. Turned on a half-hour before dusk, it stays on until sunrise and can be seen from the Jefferson Bridge, Colfax Bridge, Pier Park and Island Park. The light is programmed to display specific colors for special events. During Christmas, Halloween, Valentine's Day, and St. Patrick's Day sequences can also be seen washing over the St. Joseph River. The River Lights Forest operates 365 days a year and acts as a highlight for the "Keepers of the Fire" statue.
