Allison Park is a suburb of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Also a census-designated place (CDP) in Allegheny County, it is situated within the townships of Hampton, Indiana, McCandless, Shaler and West Deer. In the year years of the area's settlement, Allison Park was called Talley Cavey and was part of the Pitt Township in the 1700s. The name was an Irish Gaelic word meaning "hill over the borough" and came from Tullycavy on the Ards Peninsula in Northern Ireland.
Today, Allison Park is within proximity to the communities of Dorsyville, Fox Chapel, O'Hara Township, Etna, Undercliff, Wittmer, Glenshaw and Ross Township. It lies along William Flinn Highway (Pennsylvania State Road 8) and is served by Duncan Avenue, Ferguson Road, Mt. Royal Boulevard, and Elfinwild Road. As the ninth-best suburb to live in in the Pittsburgh area, it has a population of 23,092 people and offers residents a dense suburban feel. 75% of the people living in Allison Park own their homes, with a median home value of $235,600.
Pine Creek Golf Center is a golf driving range on Duncan Avenue in Allison Park. Opened in 1993, its mission is to help people improve their golfing skills through professional instruction, effective practice and properly fitted equipment. Allison Park is home to one strip mall at the emergence of Ferguson Road and Mt. Royal Boulevard. Although it doesn't have a name, the main anchor for the shopping plaza is Kuhn's Market – a supermarket offering produce, meat, a bakery and a deli. Other shops and services operating there are Nails Secret, Pine Creek Public House, Forever Sun Tanning Salon, Western Union, Pasquale's Pizzeria, GINAS HAPPY HOUND, KeyBank and Leo's Auto Services.
Even though there aren't many shopping centers in Allison Park, the CDP also includes the Allison Park Industrial Complex, Inc. A number of businesses operate out of the complex on Willian Flinn Highway.
