The clergy abuse attorneys in Fountain Hills bring you this article to inform you about the town. We are excited to showcase to you why Fountain Hills is so unique.

Description of Fountain Hills

Fountain Hills is a town within Maricopa County, Arizona. Before it was developed, the area was inhabited by the Yavapai people. In the early 1900s, it was home to the Pemberton Ranch that was later renamed P-Bar Ranch. Fountain Hills and the McDowell Mountain Regional Park was established in parts of the ranch. The Fountain Hills High School was also built on the site of one of the ranch's buildings.

In 1989, the Town of Fountain Hills was incorporated. Named after the towering man-made fountain at the center of the town, it was developed by C. V. Wood, the president of McCulloch Oil. The fountain was the tallest fountain in the world at one point. Between 1990 and 2000, the town was the eighth-fastest-growing place in Arizona. It borders Scottsdale, the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community, and the Fort McDowell Yavapai Nation. As of the 2020 decennial census, the town has a population of 23,820 people.

The Fountain

The Fountain in Fountain Hills is the fourth-tallest fountain in the world. B It was built by Robert P. McCulloch in Zurich, Switzerland, in 1970. The water lily sculpture fountain is situated in the middle of a man-made lake and consists of three pumps. When all of its pumps are in use, it can spray up to a height of 560-feet. During holidays and special events, the fountain is lighted with LED lights, which include eight colors. It sprays water every hour between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m. for 15 minutes. People can watch this "World Famous Fountain" live on the Experience Fountain Hills website through a livestream camera.

International Day Sky Community

In 2018, Fountain Hills was designated by the International Dark Sky Association as an International Dark Sky Community. It is one of the only two International Dark Sky Communities that is located near a large metropolitan area. This was accomplished because the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community on the south, the Fort McDowell Yavapai Nation on the east, the McDowell Mountains on the west, and the McDowell Mountain Regional Park shield the community from the city lights. Today, the Fountain Hills Dark Sky Association (FHDSA) is working to create the International Dark Sky Discovery Center. The 15,000-square-foot center will include:

  • A Dark Sky Observatory
  • An Inspiration Theater
  • A Hyperspace Planetarium
  • An Immersion Zone

The FHDSA has also worked with the town to change the outdoor lighting and sign ordinances to minimize light pollution.
